Sarn Mynach - CSSC Funded Yoga(October 09, 2019)
After a request for yoga sessions to be run in the office we successfully applied to the CSSC Physical Activity fund and were able to subside member fees by 50% for 8 weeks. Uptake for the classes was great, including achieving 10 attendees during the summer holiday period. Now we have come to the end of funding and the highlight is being able to continue with the classes as the demand is still there. As a group we have improved so much from that first session. Newbies are still welcome to join us as every movement is tailored to the person and their capability.
Kate Jenkins-Hughes says - I didn’t really know what to expect from the session having never been to a yoga class before – but was immediately hooked. Jane made sure everyone was comfortable and with every move there are modifications so it can fit your ability. A lot of times I’ve been amazed at what my body can do and I’ve really noticed the difference in few of months. I’m much more flexible than before but am also stronger in the core and with my balance, and it’s helped with things from painting my toes to heading out and running faster than usual. I’ve also really enjoyed meeting new people within WG, being quite new to the organisation it’s been so good to get to know other people outside my team. And we all get to see each other improve week on week as well, it’s a great motivator to keep going back.
Jane Barnes the instructor says - I love teaching here, working with such lovely people and seeing them progress each week, becoming more flexible, more centred, more relaxed as stress melts away and sharing laughter with them. I teach Hatha yoga, with gentle flow, suitable for all levels. Each session ends with a blissful relaxation and a head and shoulder massage to help you float home. Feedback has been extremely positive with everyone noticing how it has started to change their lives and enable them to have better quality sleep and feel more rested.
